Working with Marelize for the past few months has been both life changing and freeing. We first met Marelize when we were at a very low point in our marriage. We were generally not happy and were really frustrated with the state of our marriage. We struggled with communication and the lack of empathy we had towards each other.
Counselling was a daunting thought, but it was the only option we had. Although we loved each other dearly, we just didn’t have the tools we needed to deal with the issues we had swept under the rug for 15+ years.
Our sessions with Marelize provided us with the very tools we needed to communicate with empathy, but most importantly to get our point across without fear of judgement from the other.
She became our sounding board when we needed one. She helped us learn we can think independently, and still come to a resolution as couple.
Marelize’s gentle but firm nature assured and encouraged us to keep wanting to come out of our sessions feeling like we have fought harder to be good to ourselves and to each other.
The sessions we have with Marelize are an invaluable part of our marriage. The work we put in is not easy by any means – we are constantly challenged and have to dig deep and allow our inner-selves to be dissected and prodded. It’s an immense act of trust, which Marelize has helped us navigate.

“What an amazing counsellor I have” is what always ran through my mind during our counseling sessions.
Marelize has been the epitome of what compassion and understanding is and has really driven hard untold conversations which I always relived in my mind into reality. I never thought of myself as self-sabotaging in so many ways but she made me realize how okay it is to deal with the realities of life in a way that also served me and not just gave into what other people’s views were.
I first came across Marelize through my journey of seeking and rediscovering myself and she truly has been that ladder of upliftment for me in my life. I had positive toxic traits as well as unresolved internal issues which I was quite in denial about. I must say that for someone who had never attended counselling before I really found value and recognize how much I needed counselling.
As she peeled through my character layer by layer, session by session like an onion, the wall I had built up around me from people being in my space or people trying to help me or just people being present whether with good intent or not had started falling off brick by brick.
I am grateful that she allowed me to face my demons while she stood there in a distance with her voice echoing “you need this”, “you’re really doing good” and so many words of encouragement.
One of the most memorable moments in my session was me having to deal with family matters where in my cultural background there have been things which I thought were normal until I realized how those things affected my ability to grow emotionally and mentally to some extent, but understanding the significance of dealing with things one day at a time has made me a better person.
I appreciate and will forever be grateful to Marelize for the guidance and compassion she has shown to me and I would recommend her to anyone who requires counselling within the spaces which she operates in. She saw me for who I am and made me feel significant.

What an amazing counsellor Marelize is. During my sessions with her, she’s helped me discover some heavy emotions I’ve been carrying with me for so long. Not only that, she also helped unpack those struggles and suggested healthy coping mechanisms which worked wonders.
I was at my lowest and felt like I didn’t want to live anymore, but Marelize got me help ASAP and I can never thank her enough for that. She saved me from myself. Every time I had a session with her, I felt like I mattered to at least one person, and that someone out there whom I’ve never met can show me so much kindness and compassion. At some point, I thought I was going crazy but she made me feel validated, she helped me feel sane and safe. She listened attentively without judgement and I often felt better at the end of our sessions.
I still have a lot to work through, but the coping mechanisms she’s suggested help me when I feel overwhelmed. I’ve made a lot of progress because of her.

Marelize is a patient but stern counsellor.
She will lay out the different options available to you, and apply patience and compassion in helping you make your decisions. She helped me to realize some options are not as internally destructive as I had feared, and also highlighted different options to me I hadn’t thought of before. One can view her as a problem solver because of this.
She will acknowledge where you feel your limits are and adjust accordingly. When you’ve made your choice, she will understand that it’s going to be hard, but reassure you that there are ways of dealing with the hardship that is to come. She gave me strategies to help me work through and regulate my emotions in the family challenges I’m dealing with. She also encouraged me to choose options that are important to me and my values.
She’s the type of person that would be a favourite teacher, or parent that pushes you to do and be better.Client, Aged 24.
